I stopped paying to go to professional sports games after SF Giants hired Barry Bonds with an outrageous salary back then... 1990?

We were taken to an Oakland A's game shortly after that for a work function and all I could think of was the Colosseum was like a big bowl they lock you inside and keep shaking hoping all the dollars drop out of your wallet. I remember nothing of the game or who I went with but I remember vividly thinking they could fill it with water, get some fans and I'd have fun windsurfing!

The NBA... think about it. The players market $200+ sneakers to a demographic that relies on free school lunches, free cell phones and housing vouchers. Part of "their brand" is to piss on police that try to protect their community but many don't like... I commented on their "crickets" sound over China & HK last week on FB.

Many of the players do a lot of good with their money and Steph Curry will pay over 30x the property taxes I'll pay to live just a few miles up the El Camino....

nbcsports.com

so it is nice when they stay but I wouldn't expect them as individuals to say much more about China than we expect the Starbucks CEO to support freedom protestors in HK while expanding in China...
