I get mine from a live data feed. Scott and Nemer calculate it off the E-Mini which trades (usually) pretty close to point for point with the futures. I'm sure the E-Mini can be pulled up for free somewhere but I don't know offhand where. The current symbol is ES8Z; some places use ESZ8. In December it changes to ES9H.
