AOL offers something called "Instant Messenger" as a freebee.

Hi Tom,

IF ya really wanna go "hi-tech", download Yahoo Messenger instead. It allows "free voice chat", that sounds better than my cell phone. You can also type messages like AOL's IM, and it comes with a host of other cool features.

One of the best things is that you can have "multiple" people in a voice chat spread all over the place. I was conversing with some old high-school friends in 5 states all at once. Some of us had not spoken to each other in 15 years!

Be sure to invest in a good microphone though. I got a Labtech "collar mic" at Office Depot for about $50, after I was informed that I sounded like I was talking from inside a potato chip bag with the "toy mic" that came with my computer.

Yahoo Messenger has amazing sound quality, and it's also free. It does many other cool things and I would recommend it anyone.

Thought you or anyone else here may be able to take advantage of the "free long-D" like I sometimes do. In the past, I've tried several of these "voice chat" things and this is the first one that "really works good". The IM features are superb also. It is a cut above AOL's Instant Messenger (which I also have), and you can set it up for 1-click access to sports scores and stock quotes and such. Really a neat tool. Thing is that you have to get everyone else to download it too so you have "someone to talk to".

Best Wishes,
Bill
