I didn't realize he already had the underlying position. That would tend to suggest that he was was well aware that he had a leveraged play selected.

The way I see it, a generous (ONE TIME) exception would be to allow him to double up in the underlying issue. If that isn't acceptable, it would seem disqualification is in order.

Nobody answered my question on dividends. Perhaps they should only be considered in a tie-breaker, otherwise we might need to house you in a rubber-walled room. <g>
