The website include frames for easy access to posts, market closing and volume data, percentage of day's trades at the buy prices during the day, etc. The format would be very cumbersome if you tried to handle it within SI's format. The SI thread is very active, and it was thoughtful of McKenzie to provide all this historical data in a fashion that could be easily accessed by new investors, as well as old hands who didn't have the time to go through all postings.
