Thanks CD.

This week we had a conference call amongst my three partners in our Chrysler Dodge Jeep store. It is run by one of my younger employees who I claim as helping in mentoring him <smile>

He said you're all partners and I'm about to make a big decision on you guy's money.

The issue was laying off people in our store, as business has slowed tremendously.

I parallelled the time in 2008 when we took a $500 deal on the trust that the government would reimburse us $2500 - $4000 as a rebate.

That month we did 24 deals and 22 of them were "cash for clunkers deals" and we had $96,000 of our money awaiting government reimbursement. A huge block of money hoping the government would see our actions as correctly administered. It was the first time a program like that was ever done and there were huge questions.

Once they paid, they paid very easily and with out questions - they did not violate our trust.

I told them "We keep our people" and "we trust the government will pay us to do what they want done" - every one agreed and said "That's right!"

One of the other dealers layed off 22 employees the friday before our monday meeting and it had really struck fear with in our employees.

We'll have a weak month this month as the start of March was good. April will be ugly, but we'll have some support from whatever the government does for small businesses. We must have trust!

Additionally the word has gotten out to our community of 7500 that were supporting our people.

Some things are worth more than money.

Although this has been a very rough patch, I noted that our original founder had started the original business just before WWII started. GM did not make cars from 1941 to 1945. Car dealers became service repair shops, body shops and parts businesses.

We still have it made in this great country. A country full of compassionate leaders with great capabilities when they harness the will of the people.

We will prevail!

Bob
