hey t.v.---
nothing much to say (as usual) but i thought i'd try and post and see if i had any problems. hadn't had any over the past few days.

reading your mr. "g" story about scaring the living S--- out of us, reminded me that about five years ago i was messing around with voice recognition software at the office trying to make things easier. i'm sure the technology has improved tenfold since then, but i was having a heck of a time with it one afternoon watching the screen while it interpreted every breath and enunciation i uttered and more times than not printing nothing close to what i was saying.

i was reading off an old memo and in frustration started "vamping" and just started rambling in random thoughts (much like now) and proceeded to call the software a, "worthless piece of s---." the program did not, of course, recognize my colorful comment and instead printed out the words that now adorn a golf cap of mine,"....piece of SCHMIDT."

never did figure out who the computer thought i was referring to.

had a nice wake up call about 2.40 this a.m. when our latest rumbler rolled through the house. no jolts, just a gentle ride. about 20 seconds worth or so. main aftershock later was a short, sharp jolt but, as i'm sure you've heard by now even at a relativly high magnitude the damage was minimum. the fun of living in la-la land!!!
