Interesting tidbits from the WSJ:

Seagate makes disk drives. They plan to lay off 10,000 workers. They have a disk drive plant in Singapore. At this plant, 1800 Seagate workers will be put out of work.

ADPT's manufacturing plant is in Singapore, and presumably, ADPT sells disk drive contollers to Seagate. Hmmmm....wonder if the lay offs at Seagate will have an impact on ADPT??

Meanwhile, Disk/Trend, Inc. estimates that unit shipments of all types of disk drives will grow from 126 million units in 1997 to 149 million in 1998, a 18.2% increase {1997 growth rate was 20%].

More,uh,Hmmmmm's....I wonder which of these reports I can bank on? I kinda think the Seagate lay off report may be a better clue as to what is to come for 1998.

PS: Does anybody out there have any segment data on ADPT? What products produce what percentage of ADPT's gross and operating and net revenues? Without this data, aren't we stumbling around in the dark??
