I've heard it said that the fundamental flaw with democracy is that because there are more poor than rich, the poor are able to vote for themselves anything they want. The rich, recognizing this flaw, do everything in their power to subvert the democratic process to prevent this from happening. It may be true, as Churchill said, that democracy is the worst of all political systems... except for all the rest, but jeez louise, you'ld think we could come up with something better...
