One thing I always liked about the Fed was they tell you in advance before they lie to you. Greenspan in his testimony in the 90s said that if they changed the formula for CPI and PPI they could save the government tons of money by reducing the COLA increases for social security, military and civil service pension, TIP securities etc. Then a bit later, they changed the formula.
Just like now,. They have said they will sell their souls to save this market even if they have to add a hundred zeros to the dollar bill.
