I think there are no translated books on the list. Thus no Hesse or Kafka or Camus or Sartre and no Russians. Atlas Shrugged is only one of the jokes on the list. But really, it is a list informed as much by sociology and mime-representation as by literary quality.

Ulysses is on the list, so I don't feel so bad about Finnegan's Wake.
