When I was a kid, we'd get salmon with an unbelievably low price. It looked unappealing, and didn't taste very nice, but the cat enjoyed it just fine. I don't remember what it was called officially, but around our house we called it cat salmon.

Fast forward a few decades, and nearly all salmon available in the stores is the cat variety, so it seems. Once in a while, I can find a decent piece. Probably wild instead of farmed, but I'm guessing.
