Headline: Fingermatrix Makes Progress on Internet Security Program
====================================================================== ELMSFORD, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 1999--Fingermatrix Inc. (NASDAQ BB:FINX) reported today that it has made significant progress in the development of a highly accurate miniaturized fingerprint scanner which can be implanted in either a computer mouse or a keyboard. It is a key element in the company's proposed system to prove the identity of people conducting business on the Internet. Using patented and proprietary technology possessed by Fingermatrix and its recent acquisition, FMX Corp., the company has perfected a small fingerprint scanner that is 99.5 percent accurate in identifying one party in an Internet transaction for the other. Lewis S. Schiller, chairman and CEO, said he believes this capability significantly exceeds that of all competing systems. Also, due to its high resolution, the scanner is capable of reading and digitizing prints of the entire population, another unique feature. Its intrinsic design prevents the use of molds or other devices to mimic live fingerprints, without recourse to finger pulse, resistivity or temperature detectors. The scanner can also be used to control access to secure computers, for military or medical identification using smart cards, financial environment access and law enforcement applications. Its accuracy makes it ideal for such uses, Schiller said. Fingermatrix pioneered electronic fingerprinting 20 years ago and has held as many as 17 patents in the field, seven of which are still in force. Now, Schiller said, the recently merged group of companies is applying these technologies to solve the Internet security problem and those in other technical fields as well.
