"U" is the Sept Contract..... ....thus the popular belief for the origin of the nickname "spoo". You can trade the December Contract if you have the nerve. You are correct in presuming that it is thin so it takes a few shots of straight whiskey but what the hell, if you've ever seen SPX traders in Chicago it sure seems to be part of their lifestyle. The difference in the Price is naturally the Premium between the Cash and the Sept Contract....just like the difference between the Cash and the June. On Friday, this will be your new PREM. Gotta bolt, had enuf of this action today.
