Pat --- hate it that you're having a bad time .... I'm not doing too badly myself in the bad time dept .....
I tried to get long at the open ... at 1334 --- couldn't get it done for 2 contracts .... missed out as I'm too slow ....
Last post from me was ------ Thursday from my son's computer in Austin, before I went to the track.
some wheels came off and some wheels have had a flat .....in my life since then .....
Thursday after the post ..... While at the noon conference, Marilyn gets her feet tangled in a pile of microphone wire, falls down and damages --- chin, lip, wrist, palm, side, and knee.... amongst other body parts. I return to the motel room slightly before three o'clock in the afternoon to find her on the phone talking to the insurance director for PISD, attempting to find the correct manner to obtain medical services.
Now, that is something I do know how to do ... one goes to the emergency room and gets attention and the paper work can catch up later. So, off to the ER we go.
That takes care of Thursday afternoon and some of Thursday evening ...... diagnosis --- contusions, lacerations, and a severely strained knee with "possible" ligament damage. she is discharged, after excellent care from all at the hospital, from orderlies, admissions triage, nurses, doctors, xray, and discharge folks.... should one be in Austin and need an ER, I can heartily recco Brakenridge Hospital.
So, all day Friday, I transpose my usual take command/issue commands personality into a stepandfetchitgopher.... boy, did that little lady on crutches run my legs off ... base headquarters was Holiday Inn (for this day) --- "we" delivered grant apps to several state office in various downtown buildings, after retyping several of them, became room service for my invalid, and packed up all the clothes, laptop, typewriter, etc to transfer hotels, as the next bout of meetings/conference was to be held at LaQuinta on the other end of town....... Saturday --- delivered/fetched/roomservice ... about the same as the previous day .... and repacked (easier this time as numerous things have been disposed of or not unloaded ...ggg) for the third and final move of the weekend, to the Renaissance for the final group of meetings/conference which will be over Tuesday. I moved out of the motel room and the school superintendent moved in to the now renamed "Convalesent Ward of the Renaissance Nursing Center". Elaine (super) is recovering from major surgery (Thurs first day at work in five weeks) and Marilyn ...... I decide to leave as I'm worn out from taking care of one, and now there are two ........ gggggg The five and a half hour drive home was pleasant.
Sunday .... get the house ready for the grandkids who are coming for the week.... I'm to pick them up in the morning in Dallas. REST ---- I do that too ...... ggg
Monday .... doesn't seem to be starting off too well when the phone rings about 1 in the morning .... ever notice how the news which comes forth from the instrument in the wee hours of the night is NEVER GOOD ? Grandson is in ER in Dallas .....contusions, lacerations, broken jaw, broken wrist, broken arm, lotsa teeth missing ... sounds MUCH worse than Marilyn's deal ... Everyone is asleep now, and I hope he is healing properly, for all seems to be going well .....
So, I don't think I'll be trading much today, either ....... ggggg
Nemer
PS -- oh yeah, Thursday ... I thought I'd found a great bet (only one I made) ... Pat Day is on a horse who has the only early speed (advantage of at least 8 lengths at the 4 pole) .... horse is dropping in class, ready to run .... and is going off at TREMENDOUSLY LONG ODDS of 4 to 1 ... at Churchill Downs in the slop ... speed on the rail ...... that's ME .... I load up with a couple of 20 buck win tickets ... part wheel him with five in 5 buck exactas
whoops ..... that should have let me know my weekend was doomed ... Pat and the horse FADE from the lead at the top of the stretch ... one of them evidently didn't like mud slung in eyes (wasn't Pat) ...gggg |
