I think that you are right about dial-up. It is a commodity and the consolidation of the dial-up ISPs will accelerate. The larger ones will partner up with various companies to offer bundled services or products. Dial-up is becoming an increasingly tough business.

However, I do think that the providers or premium services, whether it be cable or DSL, will be able to charge for that service. The infrastructure costs need to be recovered. Bear in mind that "free" TV coexists with cable.
