Tom,

I could use some help with AIM. If you follow this link you will see the results of an AIM vs. "Buy and Hold" that I ran on GALT.

confirmatoryanalysis.com

Right now AIM would be behind $11,500 on and initial investment of $80k that started on 2/11/99. This was done with an initial 25% cash position and the buy and sell safes set at 10% each. Plain vanilla AIM with the exception that I could buy and sell more than every two weeks. (Bernie, I'm not trying to trade this rapidly on purpose, but my skills in programming Excel are limited).

Ok, so what. Mr Buy and Hold has outperformed so far but there is every reason to believe that AIM will eventually catch up and do well into the future.

The question I have is on 2/11/99, I didn't want to AIM this stock because it was very undervalued. Now that it is fairly valued, I'm considering it (again).

Do I

1. Just start a new spreadsheet with 50% cash, the current number of shares owned with the buy and sell safes set at 10%

2. go back through the current spreadsheets and pull "Vealies" whenever a sell was given?

3. continue to use this spreadsheet, but follow the buy and sell recommendations from here on out?

Suggestions?

Dave

PS, if the buy safe was set to zero, the difference is only $1600 in favor of buy and hold, but AIM would be sitting with 40% cash vs. Buy and hold cash level of 15%.
