Based on the depth of services that the new merger entity DCLK, Abascus Direct and NETG can provide it will be very tough for ENGAGE to build new client base. As you must be aware by now that NETG has pretty strong presence in the Asian countries amoungst others and DoubleClick is the leader. With this last merger DCLK announced their client base just grew further and the dependence on Alta Vista (was reduced from 41% to 13 % by the DCLK first merger with ABDR) will be further reduced and hence the dependence on Alta Vista as a major rev. source is not there anymore. Keep in mind they still have locked AV for another 2 1/2 years ie. ENGAGE can't get in until the contract expires. In the meanwhile these guy's are building a pretty solid client base and won't be surprised if CNET and other ENGAGE client move to these guy's.

Keep in mind that during the conference call explaining AV acquisition by CMGI. An interview with CMGI. CMGI's CEO, when asked about DCLK, says:

As far as DoubleClick's concerned, we have every intention of honoring the agreement that's in place. In looking to ways that we can extend the relationship that we have beyond AltaVista with DoubleClick. You talked about Engage in particular. There is the distinct possibility or opportunity to extend all that Engage has to offer to DoubleClick.

I think DCLK's management is fully aware and doesnot want to give CMGI any advantage hence these recent mergers.
