I'd like to introduce a company that appears to be entering the "Bowling Alley".

Phone.com, Inc. (formerly known as Unwired Planet) is a pioneering provider of software that enables the delivery of Internet-based services to mass-market wireless telephones.

Their software platform consists of the UP.Link Server Suite, which is installed on network operators' systems, and UP.Browser, which is embedded in wireless telephones.

They helped form the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Forum in cooperation with co-founders Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia.

Qualcomm was an early equity investor in Unwired Planet and licenses their technology. The beauty of WAP, IMO, is that it is technology agnostic and is being introduced in the CDMA, TDMA, and GSM communities.

Phone.com revenues are still minimal but are growing rapidly and they boast an impressive list of network operator customers.

Their web site is:

uplanet.com
