Palm Desktop Comes To Linux

Aug. 10, 1999--Applix has launched L.P.D., a Linux-based desktop for Palm handheld devices.

The application, which is released under the GPL public license, performs the same function as Windows desktop product; giving Linux users access to information stored on their Palm devices.

This first release of L.P.D. enables users to view and search for information in the address book, to do list, memo pad, date book and expense applications. Future releases of L.P.D. will include support for synchronizing data with Palm devices.

L.P.D. was developed using Applix SHELF, an open source visual development tool. Both L.P.D. and SHELF are freely downloadable, enabling developers to contribute to their further development.
