We Deeply Regret Making You Happy...

Tuesday August 24 8:23 AM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - British train passenger Stevan Walton got a surprise when he wrote to a railway company expressing
appreciation for a good journey -- it sent him two letters of apology.

British entrepreneur Richard Branson's Virgin Trains VA.CN offered an apology and a refund in the first letter.

The second apologized that his ``complaint' had not been dealt with quickly enough.

``This was an administrative mistake,' Virgin was quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph newspaper Tuesday.

``The letters were obviously a completely inappropriate response. They were sent out by a temp hired from an agency when
the customer relations department was extra busy.'

Walton said: ``It did make me laugh.'
