Here's a note from another thread that MAY or MAY NOT be relevant. I don't really understand the technology well enough, but perhaps some of you can sort this out and make a connection here (regarding Flash Memory): The Flash memory can also be programmed in-system by the host processor. A simple bit-banged UART is included in firmware to allow downloading user programs to Flash using a standard XMODEM protocol. Generally, firmware is copied to high speed RAM for execution.
