Guilty as charged, grin. Actually, having myself suspended has never been one of my goals.

I can sympathize with how you feel. j & c have been allowed to take over and kill the thread and flood it with their nonsense. We have allowed it, and even encouraged it, by responding to them.

As far as there being a lack of enforcement of government regulations, you have to realize SI is not under the jurisdiction of the government in that sense. SI is a business. The securities laws of the U.S. do not apply here as they would if we were all standing on a street corner having a conversation, or if we were all brokers talking with clients, etc.

There are several misconceptions floating around on SI about freedom of speech on the one hand and SEC rules and regs on the other. For the most part, neither have any jurisdiction here. That's why most of the law suits that have been filed against people who post here have been civil suits (as I recall anyway).

SI is a self-policing community (Hi Bob, Hi Jill!). And this thread is a self-policing (for the most part) sub-community within that larger community. It is up to us.

This thread is what we have made of it and what we have allowed it to become. It really is all our fault.
