Clinton Says He's Still Getting Spiritual Guidance
Sep 28 10:20am ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Clinton said Tuesday he was continuing to consult spiritual leaders who have been counseling him about the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal.

He said he had been ``profoundly moved' by the forgiveness shown to him by his family and others. He made his remarks to religious leaders attending the annual White House prayer breakfast.

``I have been profoundly moved as few people have by the pure power of grace, unmerited forgiveness through grace,' Clinton said.

In the midst of the Lewinsky scandal a year ago, Clinton admitted he had sinned and asked forgiveness. Clinton was referring to his relationship with the former White House intern.

He told the prayer breakfast he wanted to give thanks ``most of all to my wife and daughter but (also) to the people I work with, to the legions of American people and to the God in whom I believe.'

Clinton said he would continue to work with the three pastors to whom he turned for spiritual advice last year and ``I hope you will pray for us as we do.'
