Anthony, I don't know about you, but I found that InfoWorld reaction/analysis to be extremely superficial and naive. The analyst doesn't even acknowledge the evolving global nature of telecommunications and the major players out there, the convergence of broadband, the expected entry of the RBOCs, and the history of the benefits from MCI-Worldcom-Sprint's competition with AT&T over the years.
I am sure there are certain vendors and individuals who may be negatively impacted initially from this, but in the larger view of things, this will be positive for consumers, business and America's continued leadership of the internet and telecom technologies.
"I don't believe we'll see lower rates for long distance." LOL! We're approaching the point where LD is free!
Thanks for posting -- it shows what some "experts" will be saying about this combination... It also shows that the "experts" may not be very intelligent. JMHO.
