News has a way of 'leaking out' and letting those with big ears make huge profits. I don't see a run-up large enough to justify the expectation of some 'major announcement' Companies tend to buff their brokers prior to road shows to spare them any surprises and maybe work them into giving them a mention to augment their show.

All in all, a single shooter theory.
