It's sort of the way the NYSE should work.

But slightly different. Orders on the NYSE can get paired off in such a way that makes it somewhat different, but I cannot recall an example.

Generally speaking though, In the case of the person bidding 1290.10 for 1 to run it up they have to take him out before they can touch your 100 lot.

In a way, he knows he has a safe albeit temporary trade, because he is leaning on your 100 lot.
