Llama Weiss: I'm just not too sanguine about Yeltsin's prospects, but you must agree that if Gityeroksov returns the commies to power in Russia, it can't have a very positive impact on markets in general. Assuming the worst, hard capital would flee Russia and probably have a serious impact on all ex-eastern satellittes (I hate not being able to reach "spell-check" on this line). Uncertainty breeds immediate attraction to a safe base. As regards Chile, I understand your points and the Chileian leadership has very much followed everything laid out by Milton Friedman , when he was hired to consult under the Pinochet regime. Not to sound like a fascist, but the overtrow of Allende was the best thing that ever happened to Chile. The message then as is now, think monetarist. They clearly will be the next member of NAFTA and if I had my way, we'd trade them for Mexico today. Got any investment ideas for down there?
