I'll tell ya, CRTs are hard to beat. I've got a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 900P that I paid ~$300 for and it is sweet! Sure it's humongous and heavy but the colors, clarity and resolution are great. Whenever they finally get around to shipping my wife's notebook I'll see how I like 12" TFTs.

I wonder if the recent price drop of CRTs is in response to the budding FPD industry or if some technological advance spurred it. Y'know VCRs are getting really cheap. I wonder why? <g>

OT - coffee strikes again
You know, it's a great time to be alive! I can run a reasonably unsuccessful oxide-deposition design and sales business from my back room, trade stocks online (reasonably successfully), and have lots of time to spend with my daughters as they grow up. Of course it doesn't hurt to have a working CIS wife <g>. But with my puny PC and a slow net connection I run AutoCAD, WinFax, Publisher, Quicken, and Word and can take care of most of my business and trading needs. A few of my sales have been completely electronic. The last one I sent design drawings and fabrication and operation manuals as email attachments to Switzerland! No need to deal with vendors on my side at all. If only........
