There are some materials issues I need to do some homework on. It is my understanding that SiC and sapphire are just the substrates that they grow GaN diodes on. SiC is the best because it's crystal lattice is the closest match to GaN (same with thermal expansion). I need to find a data sheet on SiC for thermal and electrical conduction among other things. Maybe at the Cree website. <edit> Hot dog! Their site is chock full of goodies! <edit> Thanks for pointing out the Pru report. JF
