You make it sound as if that press release is about something new that's going to change the world - it's not. There's a multitude of different technologies using VoIP and most have been around for years - some even longer than BT/VW. Do you even understand what that Ericsson box is or what it does? It ain't remote access. It merely allows a PBX alternative for small - medium sized businesses. The company's internal voice calls would all be placed and received on their desktops. The conduit would be a dedicated VPN link to a gateway server residing off-premise. Just how important do you think 100% up time is for a busy corporation? Could the business survive with the potential of several hours of "NO PHONES" looming over them each and every day? This is why corporate America is still quite happy with the good old, rock solid PBX cabinets they've been using for decades and why they're still being manufactured and bought at record paces.
