Based in San Antonio and Dallas, Texas, IP AXESS (formerly DATA RACE, Inc.) was established in 1983 and has pioneered a long history of "Firsts" in the remote communications industry. Fairly quiet on the scene until recently, they are now re-emerging under almost totally new management with a line of new products based upon the core technologies the company has been developing over the past several years.

From the website:
"IP AXESS is a leading provider of integrated IP remote access solutions. Our flagship VocalWare IP product provides users in remote locations with access to corporate resources including phone, fax, Internet, and E-mail over a single connection including: DSL, cable modem, LAN/WAN, or PSTN."

The company also holds several key patents which cover relatively broad areas of the quickly converging world of voice+data remote access. Although they have yet to be challenged it's quite possible that some of these patents may prove to be as valuable to the company as some of Qualcomm's early patents have been for them.
