Hi Keith,

Lots of times those two days gained back per month have undefinable value.

I've probably mentioned here before that some days go by when I don't bother to look at the ticker of my holdings. It's only a call from a friend that will prompt me to take a look.

I have to admit that I look more often in a bear market than in a bull phase! :-)

I'm almost interested enough in how I'm doing in 1999 to spend some time getting organized and seeing just what I've managed to do for the year! There have been plenty of taxable events; just don't know what the totals are going to be.

Tonight on CBS, there was a sitcom wherein the man and woman had invested in a great new stock at the beginning of the show (at $6). Later the man panics when the stock falls to $3 and pleads with his wife to sell out. Her argument is that they are long term investors - usually three weeks - so they should wait it out! Anyway, she does sell.

Later when the stock soars to about $12 he insists that the stock is going to the moon and begs her to buy it back. She gives in again. Sure enough later in the show it's back in the toilet once again.

The plot could have been written by David Dreman! Too bad they didn't have a guest appearance by Robert Lichello to save them from their folly. I guess it says how far and wide the stock market bull has stampeded if they now consider it mainstream enough to have a sitcom play on the subject.

Best regards, Tom
