Gee Tom, you got me shivering here.

My first thought on the 1974 VL P-E @4.8 was 'impossible', but isn't that when interest rates and inflation were taking serious hold on the economy? Seems to me that it was President Ford who in 1975(?) had the "WIN" program (Whip Inflation Now). Also, Isn't there some 'magic' number of 21? (P-E plus Prime rate???).

Lessee now.......21 less 4.8 equals interest rate of 16.2. Was that about right at the time? Seems that it 'flipped' from 1969 (Oh the summer of love!) to 1974. Aren't we at about that point (interest @ around 5-ish) in 1999 as were in 1969, one generation ago?
Gawd, It's Deja Vu all over again.
