Hi Fox and Jack, One of the calculations I do annually (not yet this year, however) is to take the total value of the trades for the year and divide it by the average value of the portfolio for the year. This approximates an 'inventory turn' for the account. I usually take the total off my Schedule B form for the value of the sales and the beginning and ending value of the portfolio divided by two as the average account value.

Then, when we look at mutual funds year end results we have a way of gauging how we're doing compared to the pros. I'm always amazed at how high some of their inventory turns are relative to mine.

Best regards, Tom
