Ken:

I could not agree with you more! There is a huge difference between the two companies. I do question the ADSK leadership position in collaborative engineering. Please keep you eyes open for announcements at next weeks A/E/C Systems show in CA. ADSK killed itself with R13 and the entire legacy data issues. ADSK needs to refocus their marketing approach. There huge market share is due to the fact that they were first to market. God bless them they kick everyones butt for years. But now when MAJOR ACCOUNTS (100 seats and up) look for engineering solutions they are increasingly turning to Bentley and others like PMTC.

I still think ADSK might be a good play, but I do not believe they will continue to enjoy the type of market dominance the expierenced in the 80's. If you look at CAD or engineering solitions installs since 1994 in MAJOR ACCOUNTS the balance of power is not as cut and dry.

FYI - Mr. Bentley recently died and was never involved with the Bentley business. Keith Bentley a middle son started the company with his brother Barry. Now the eldest brother Greg is Chairman of the Board. Greg Bentley already took his former company public and then sold it to start with his brothers. All of the Bentley brother are brillant people who are much more then just CEO figure heads they know the users and have a vision of the object orriented future.

I love the disscussion in this sight.

Thanks for your thoughts - Doug Kaiser
