True airplane story: I was flying from Dallas to Philadelphia. The flight had been delayed for about three hours for reasons not adequately explained while were were still sitting around waiting ("problems with Food Services" didn't really cut it). Finally we took off, and the captain, in his jolly way, told us that he sure hoped those maintenence problems had been taken care of. We smiled uneasily, and hoped he'd leave us alone for the rest of the trip. Silence until we approached the east coast, where obviously we had to make a turn. Cap'n gets on the mike again: "Ladies and gentlemen, if you'll look out the left side of the aircraft you'll see the lights of our nation's capital, Washington, D.C.!!" Needless to say, no one looked. Silence again. Thirty seconds later he was back: "Sorry, ladies and gentlemen, actually that was Baltimore..."
