Very nice post RtoS I personally have learned
many times not to jump into someone else's hot stock
pick. There is always time to do research and there
is always another stock which might give an investor
a very nice return.

I remember my first year of trading stocks--I set aside
my overtime, and that was the amount I was willing to
lose. And I lost it. The last few years have been very
satisfying, so I'm glad I kept with it. Of course the
strength of this biotech rally has really helped me out,
I was down 25% for 1999 as of early October...but nothing
but up fast since then.

The frustrating thing for me now is the access to
IPOs. There are one or two in which I'd like to participate,
but even being a good customer ($) doesn't buy you anything.
I talked to a broker at Merrill Lynch the other day, a
very pleasant fellow with an office which overlooked
Puget Sound and the Olympics--he just shook his head,
the playing field is completely level, I guess we all
just have to scrounge for what little is doled out.
Disappointing, you would think that for a certain amount
of commissions generated and a decent account balance,
that would buy you something, seems not to though.
