Ms. Blue, on that topic, you should watch for Doonesbury tomorrow, available through nytimes.com , but not yet. A quote: "It's long been a truism that the sign of an educated person is that he understands how little he knows". For an amusing counterpoint somewhat relevant both to the title of this thread, this particular topic, and Steven Roger's correspondent up the chain, there's this post to lorrie from a couple weeks back, elsewhere.

But it is certainly true that we have, as a society, become too ethically oriented to "feelings", and lost some of our concern with "honor". I will say that I consider that part of the feminization of culture, among other things. But that is a whole other debate.... Message 12809103

Oops, I hope that doesn't induce that whole other debate here, but I'm sure he'll get the final word in, one way or the other. It's a natural law, I think.
