Well, you certainly have those members of the United States Congress on your side who call him a "national treasure."

But if one reads Milton Friedman and Anna Schwartz's "Monetary History of the United States," and look at the figures provided by the Federal Reserve bank of St. Louis, one sees that the Fed itself has created the conditions for inflation, and that the Fed itself will be fighting those conditions by raising interest rates.

So in a sense both sides are correct on the SI threads. Just some of us wish the Fed had never made possible the stock market bubble in the first place, and some of us want it to go on forever and think that it can.

I wish Alan Greenspan the best of health. I want him to live long enough and stay in office long enough to take the responsibility for what his Fed has caused.
