Ben Barker Retires as DATA RACE, Inc.'s President, Chief Executive
Officer And a Member of the Board of Directors
SAN ANTONIO, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- DATA RACE (Nasdaq: RACE - news) announced today that Dr. W. B. Barker has retired from the company as its
President and Chief Executive Officer and also as a member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Barker served as president and chief executive officer since joining the
company in April 1995 and as a director since May 1995. Pending the naming of a replacement by the board of directors, Jeffrey P. Blanchard, the company's
Chairman of the Board, will be Acting Chief Executive Officer and Michael A. McDonnell will continue to serve as Chief Operating Officer with all senior
management reporting to him.

Jeffrey P. Blanchard. ``We wish him prosperity in his retirement.' As a hardware engineer, Barker was a member of the team which developed the ARPANet,

management positions. Barker is also a co-inventor of the VocalWare Remote Access System.
