Sprint shareholders approve MCI WorldCom deal
KANSAS CITY, April 28 (Reuters) - Long distance company Sprint Corp. (NYSE:FON - news) said Friday that its shareholders have approved a deal for the company to be acquired by No. 2 long distance company MCI WorldCom Inc. (NasdaqNM:WCOM - news) for $115 billion.

Sprint, the No. 3 U.S. long-distance company, said 96 percent of shareholders who voted supported the deal.

The deal must still be approved by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Communications Commission, the European Commission and some state regulatory agencies.
