A glut in computer processing capacity? Not a chance. Do you have any idea how easy it is for software developers to increase the demands on a processor? Most software is now constrained by the capabilities of the below-average computer system to handle its demands. In the home field, in particular, games put by far the largest demands on system capability. For example, I have a $20 flight simulator program that indirectly caused me to upgrade my current system to nearly state-of-the-art. Cost $3500, all to support a $20 piece of software. The same kind of thing occurs in all commercial and scientific fields of computer usage. The mind of man will never let hardware get ahead of software. I think the same thing applies to telecom.
