GigaMedia, Global Crossing in talks-HK paper

HONG KONG, May 8 (Reuters) - Taiwan's GigaMedia Ltd <GIGM.O>
is holding talks with undersea fiber-optic network builder Global
Crossing Ltd <GBLX.O> on cooperation, a Hong Kong newspaper said
on Monday.
The Hong Kong Economic Journal quoted GigaMedia chairman
Chester Koo as saying the talks were progressing satisfactorily.
It gave no further details.
Koo was in Hong Kong late last week to announce the forming
of a broadband content joint venture with Richard Li's Pacific
Century CyberWorks <1186.HK> and ERA Communications Ltd.
PCCW would hold 55 percent of the joint venture and ERA,
GigaMedia and its parent Koos Group holding 45 percent.
