Dear Chinton: What greases the economy's growth is liquidity most commonly considered money supply. Fortunately, at the same time the Fed has been raising rates they have kept the money supply ample for now. Also the govt balancing the budget is helping keep real rates in line but I fear both are about to change (ie money supply and interest rates) for the worse. Incidentally, banks immediately raise their prime rates, and many other rates upon increases in the fed funds rate. JDN
