One has to wonder, either these folks at the FED are incompetent or there is a hidden agenda. I for one don't think they're incompetent. I think they know exactly what they're doing (sinister as it may be to our nation's economic health). It is hard to imagine that anyone would think it actually a good thing for the economy to have another couple harsh rate hikes. As you've so well pointed out, we are only now experiencing the effects of the first one or two 1/4pts. The macro economy is a huge beast with lots of momentum and inertia. Not too easy to turn on a dime. Kevin: Just as the Vietnam War was really being fought for the oil in that region, and the Gulf War was fought for the same reason, you can bet your Bippie that $$$$$ signs are driving the current FED activity...
