If the author's name was added to the original quote (i.e. - ARMSTRONG), then there's the correct number of letters. However, if I counted correctly, we still don't have a good anagram as there would be an extra "a" and an "e" in the anagram with an "M" and a "G" left over.

But it was cute; and almost an anagram.
