America Online will hit new highs within 6 months.

The stock is down because there has been a lot of negative press referring to aols churn rate and slowing growth. Also, with the news that Prodigy and Compuserve are focusing their efforts on the web and away from their proprietary model is hurting aol.

IMO, I think AOL will greatly benefit from being the only Proprietary online service
I think this situation is much like when Att entered the Access business and all the Large ISP stock prices sharply fell. But as the smoke cleared and people understood what was really going on the solid ISPs came back to life/ For example I invested in UUNET after ATT entered the market at 27 and in less the a month doubled my money. Uunt now 66.

The facts are that the web is not ready yet for a compuserve, or a prodigy to offer strictly web based services. There are to many bottlenecks and it is to hard for the average person to use. Aol is a company that organizes the information.

I have been using the web for two years and still find aol an extremely valuable resource. I use it to keep track of stocks, find general information and to chat with people on specific topics.

Aol will prosper because it is simple to use. Their new software is going to address many current problems. Their new pricing plan will encourage heavy users to stay with the service. They now have their own network and will not have to pay sprint anymore also advertising revenues will help the bottom line.
