Why I created this discussion...
The "MDD Market Direction Discussion" thread is a moderated thread. At first, I supported this moderation, as I felt it helped focus on the thread subject. A number of individuals were modererated-out, and then all but one were reinstated during the July 4 weekend by the moderator, LG, who announced that fact to the thread.
Subsequently, I was excluded from the thread, for reasons, I believe, of simply disagreeing with some of the fundamental premises of the thread, and pointing-out that the thread seems to really not be about market direction, but instead a place to advance the bearish case and government conspiracy theories. Nothing wrong with that, but calling it "Market Direction Discussion" seems dishonest and at the least misleading to me.
LG has refused to announce my exclusion to the group, leaving the impression (dishonestly, in my opinion) that things still stand as they did over the July 4 weekend when all but one of the previous excludees were reinstated.
I've written SI administration regarding my exclusion, stating that I was not complaining about the exclusion per-se, but the fact that people can be silently excluded without any knowledge on the part of other participants. I got a reply that SI is monitoring the situation, and is now considering software changes that would permit participants to see the exclusion list.
The purpose of this thread is the originally-stated purpose of the MDD - Market Direction Discussion thread - to discuss market direction. And, to do so in a non-moderated forum where people will not feel threatened with exclusion if their opinion varies from the party line.
The accompanying "MDD - Market misDirection Discussion" is intended to poke a bit of light-hearted fun at the original thread and it's wild conspiracy theories. So far, it seems to be succeeding at that purpose. :)
LG, for his part, has complained to SI administration about "copy-cat threads", including, apparently, several others that I was not aware of. And, while he has both privately and publically complained about the "copy-cat threads" (see below), at the same time in a private communication to me, he used the existence of these threads as a justification for not reinstating me to the MDD - Market Direction Thread.
So, while justifying exclusion "because you now have your own forum" he has at the same time sought to have that forum removed from SI. Dishonest, and two-faced, in my opinion. And an attempt to stifle opposing opinion, reaching beyond even his moderating power.
For the record, this thread and the thread entitled "MDD - market misDirection Discussion" are the only so-called "copycat" discussions that were started by me. I know nothing of the other 6 discussions mentioned below:
