Little tidbit from Sue Billat

She said that Wall street watches DRAM (and perhaps general memory) prices very carefully for signs of weakening. Apparently SSB based some the semi top of cycle report on weakening of 8MB flash - now thought to have weakened because everyone wants 16MB or 32MB flash. I don't know what happened to DRAM prices recently, but everything I have read indicates that DRAM prices will go up very soon. This could change the semi index quickly.

As I have pointed out in another post, (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=14129265) seeking signs of a chip glut by looking at one particular chip type ie DRAM, is very misguided. Chip markets have fragmented significantly and many are independent from each other.
